When having a road trip it is advisable to plan on what to eat on your way. If it is going to last the whole day then the snacks should be considered as a meal replacement. The entire idea is not only having snacks but choosing the snacks in a healthy manner is the bottom line. The snacks may be home baked or bought from the supermarkets. Below is a list of these healthy snacks.
Include fresh fruits, veggies, and dippers in the list. These food components are known for their richness in disease fighting elements and also have a very high water content which helps one to remain hydrated all along. Also pack some snacks rich in protein. The proteins are good to make the stomach full and prevent one from feeling hungry after a short while. Also proteins keep one alert along the trip. Pack some drinks in the basket. The drinks ensure hydration in the body, prevents one from feeling dizzy, and one can sit for a long time without feeling to stretch so often. The drinks should include; carbonated drinks which are not sweetened, coconut water, reduced sugar drinks like organ juice, almond milk, natural soda, and coffee drinks.
Add some sweet treats for the trips. It is good to pack home baked sweet food which mostly is healthier than grabs. The sugar boost the body always and one can take them even before going to the trip. Examples of sweet treats include; dark chocolate, organic fruit snacks, whole grain muffins, homemade cookies animal crackers, and black bean brownies.
Make sure to put accoutrements in the basket. Things may not end up as planned thus preparing in advance is advisable. They are towels, baby wipes, enough hand sanitizers, utensils, among others. Even the bag one use to carry the stuffs should prevent the stench from food like the gallon bags.
Nuts and seeds are also essential for road trip. The two have vitamin, fats and minerals and their importance is to keep the brain and the heart fresh. They include; pumpkin seeds, walnuts, almonds and peanuts. When chewing the one gets busy and is able to focus well.
